Job Description: 

Core Responsibilities: Planning and Design • Gathering business requirements for database platforms. • Participating in the capacity planning and design for application and database platforms. • Participate in the security planning and design for application and database platforms on various technical issues. • Align the database platform planning and design with related technology infrastructure areas including servers, storage, networks, and unified communications. • Enforce standards for applications and databases platforms. Administration and Operations • Establish the appropriate development and production environments for applications and database implementation. • Install and configure operating system and databases to meet the business requirements. • Implement and enforce controls to ensure database integrity and security. • Administer user access levels and manage access privileges for databases. • Apply fixes, patches, updates and upgrades to operating system and database software as per the governing policies and standards. • Analyse and resolve database platform problems by applying well known troubleshooting methodologies and diagnostic tools. • Provides technical support to application development and helpdesk teams, troubleshooting problems regarding the databases, operating system, applications and related development tools. • Develop and ensure that all processes and procedures are effectively documented. Availability Management • Participate in designing appropriate backup and recovery strategies for the applications and databases. • Perform regular backup activities for all databases. • Repair and recover operating systems and databases from failures. Page 2 of 3 • Database response time • Coverage of monitoring tool • Availability of databases • System support and planned critical updates • A Bachelor degree in IT / IS / Computer Science or other related discipline • A Master degree is an additional advantage • Relevant professional certification in Oracle • Relevant professional certification in Microsoft SQL Server is an additional advantage Core: • Adaptability - Proficient • Building Relationships - Proficient • Motivation to Learn and Share - Proficient • Passion for Excellence – Proficient Technical: • Analytical Thinking - Proficient • System Operations - Proficient • Problem Solving - Proficient • Project Management – Proficient Please refer to the CUSTOMER Functional Competency Profile for this Department for a detailed understanding of the functional competencies applicable to this role Page 3 of 3 • English is compulsory • Arabic is preferable • 4-6 years of experience in fields relating to applications and database administration • Wide knowledge in managing application and database platforms, including Oracle DB, Microsoft SQL Server, Linux, Windows Server, Oracle OVM, etc. • RAC clustering, ASM and disaster recovery using Data Guard • Excellent knowledge of database backup and recovery scenarios, monitoring and fine tuning tools, such as Oracle Tuning Pack, Oracle Diagnostic Pack, TOAD, TSM, RMAN, etc. • Wide knowledge in change management concepts and project management techniques Purpose of Interaction: 1. To provide IT support to all CUSTOMER staff as needed 2. To ensure alignment of IT systems and interfaces wherever applicable Purpose of Interaction: 1.
